70-year-old woman hit and killed on major Lansing roadway
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A 70-year-old woman is dead after police say she was hit by a car on Cedar St late Thursday night. The incident happened near the intersection of Cedar St and Kalamazoo St in Lansing around 10:50 p.m.
The Lansing Police Department tells News 10 when officers arrived on scene of the car versus pedestrian crash, they located the 70-year-old woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was taken to an area hospital where she later died.
The driver of the vehicle was a 24-year-old man and was fully cooperative with officers on scene, according to police. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash at this time but an investigation into the cause is still underway.
Cedar St was closed off in the area for a couple of hours until authorities cleared the scene. It has since reopened.
