LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - After 20 radiation treatments for breast cancer at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow’s Herbert-Herman Cancer Center, Chris Triola returned with a work of art.

Triola designed a new textile piece specifically for the radiation waiting room. She said it is her way of giving back and thanking the team that supported her during treatment.

“What I’ve done always, from the earliest days as a painter, is paint the landscape in an abstract way. I’m from the era of abstract expressionism. So this piece is of that genre. It’s basically a landscape, which is a little different than some that I do,” Triola said.

Triola said her message to other patients is simple: do not be afraid. She said patients are entering a place that is caring and nurturing for their whole being.
