UPDATE: Lansing Police identify man killed in Friday morning shooting, suspect identified

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Lansing Police have identified the man killed in a shooting on S. Washington Ave Friday morning.

Authorities identified the victim as 39-year-old Lansing resident Daniel Jacob Cannarile.

Police also identified the suspect in the shooting as 43-year-old Lansing resident Johnny L. Estes.

Estes faces three charges in the shooting, including one count of open murder, as well as two weapons charges. He was denied bond.

Estes is set to appear in court for a probable cause conference on April 21.

According to authorities, the shooting happened at about 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of South Washington and Hodge avenues.

Police said they found Cannarile on the ground and was unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Police believe the victim and the suspect got into an altercation before the shooting.

Investigators say a 43-year-old suspect has been taken into custody, and the investigation will be handed over to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office.
