Zach Fisher

Zach Fisher joined KCTV5 as an MMJ/Reporter in January 2026. He is thrilled to come back to his hometown to report on the stories the people in the Kansas City metro and beyond have to tell.
He previously served as an Iowa Capitol Bureau Reporter and Weekend Morning Anchor at WHO 13 News in Des Moines, IA. From interviewing state and federal politicians live on Saturday and Sunday morning, sharing the stories of heartbroken neighbors who lost everything in tornadoes, covering the 2024 Iowa Caucus cycle and interviewing every presidential candidate or reporting live at the largest protest in the Iowa Capitol building's history: He saw a lot in his nearly 5 years in Iowa.
Des Moines allowed Zach to realize he loved covering issues that impact family and friends, as most of his extended family lives in Iowa. He is excited to share his passion for broadcast news and storytelling on a larger scale in Kansas City, where his immediate family and a whole lot of friends live.
Zach was born in Des Moines, IA, but moved to Basehor, KS at a young age and considers it home. He attended the William Allen White School of Journalism, Rock Chalk!
He enjoys golfing, fishing and doing anything outdoors: especially walking his dog, Beau. He says he is "painfully" a Minnesota Vikings fan by birth, hoping to one day see a Super Bowl team. He enjoys watching all sports and covering them as well, most recently in 2019 at Chiefs Training Camp in St. Joseph, MO.
