Soundgarden frontman, Chris Cornell dead at 52, after show in Detroit

Chris Cornell, lead singer of Soundgarden, is found dead in Detroit.

Detroit station WDIV reports, suicide is suspected. Cornell was in Detroit Wednesday night, where he performed to a sold out crowd at the Fox Theatre.

The rocker's body was found after the show at the MGM where he had been staying. According to reports, his wife had someone to go and check on the rocker, and the person who did so, found him deceased.

Cornell's representative calls the death "sudden and unexpected" and says Cornell's wife and family are shocked. The family is asking for privacy. Before his death, Cornell had tweeted he was finally back in the Rock City (Detroit).

Cornell gained fame as the lead singer of Soundgarden and later Audioslave. He was 52.
