Christian singer makes comeback after car accident
Scott Michael Bennett returns to stage three years after crash damaged vocal cords
WAVERLY, Mich. (WILX) - Christian singer Scott Michael Bennett performed at the Lansing Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Saturday, marking his return to the stage three years after a car accident stopped him from performing.
The crash left Bennett’s vocal cords damaged and he was barely able to speak. He turned to the University of Michigan Health’s Vocal Health Center for treatment.
Bennett received surgery at the center and a second chance to sing.
“I would just hope that anybody that goes through some sort of traumatic event realizes that there is hope for the future. There’s hope to be restored. And there are second chances,” Bennett said.
Bennett had the surgery in January and spent the past five months preparing for his comeback tour that started Saturday.
