Michigan State’s Grace VanSlooten selected 39th overall in WNBA Draft
EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Grace VanSlooten began her college basketball career at the University of Oregon, and now, after two seasons at Michigan State, the 6-foot-3 forward will head back to the Pacific Northwest after being selected 39th overall in the WNBA Draft by the Seattle Storm.
VanSlooten, a five-star high school recruit from Toledo, Ohio, played her first two seasons at Oregon before transferring to Michigan State ahead of her junior year. In her senior year at MSU, VanSlooten averaged 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and a block per game.
She is the first Spartan to be selected in the WNBA Draft since Nia Clouden was picked 12th overall by Connecticut in 2022.
VanSlooten will now begin working to make the Storm roster ahead of the WNBA season, which begins May 8th.
