2nd Shift Custodian

Mason Public Schools

Salary: $18.25/hr., 2nd shift premium – additional 35¢

Description:

The 2nd Shift Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining various areas of a building or facility during the evening hours, from late afternoon to late evening. The job involves moving between multiple locations and departments to ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the school district. Some duties include cleaning, maintenance, waste management, supply management, security, and safety.

  • Shall carry out general cleaning duties as assigned
  • Shall daily inspect his/her assigned area(s) to ascertain that a high level of cleanliness and safety exists
  • Shall be alert for equipment malfunctions or other maintenance problems to report to the Building Engineer
  • Shall take action necessary to ensure building and grounds security
  • Shall promote district-wide efforts in energy conservation
  • Shall promote and contribute to the general welfare of students
  • Shall maintain good attendance and perform other duties assigned by the Building Engineer or the building administrator(s)

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to drive between buildings as necessary.
  • Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must relate well with students, staff and community
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written directions

Qualifications Desired:

  • Self-motivated; an awareness for energy conservation, health and safety
  • Successful experience in school setting custodial duties

This position requires the use of personal protective equipment. This position may take place both indoors and outdoors, with the possibility of travel to other Mason school buildings.
