LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - One Lansing resident now has an easier way into their home thanks to the work of the Tuesday Toolmen.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor joined the Capital Area Housing Partnership to help build a handicap ramp for a family.

The ramp is for a minor who uses a walker and a wheelchair.

The City of Lansing provides the supplies and volunteers do the rest.

“This isn’t a second-rate ramp. The homeowner’s going to get a first-rate ramp because they know their business. They gotta dig the right angles and make sure everything is set and stable. I trust them. That’s not my job. I trust the experts on that,” Mayor Schor said.

The Tuesday Toolmen are retired handymen who have been getting together every Tuesday since 2010.

So far, they’ve finished more than 400 accessibility projects.
