A group raising money to buy some much-needed items for women in need is getting a great response from the community.
Helping Women Period held a fundraiser Tuesday morning to buy feminine hygiene products for homeless women and those staying in shelters.
The group got the idea after reading articles about how difficult and degrading it is for women who don't have access to those products.
"It was something we never thought of before," said Amy Stephenson of Helping Women Period. "We donated coats, we donate food, but never thought about donating pads and tampons. Every woman can relate to how awful that would be. And so we decided to do something about it."
If you would like to donate items or money, or help distribute the products, you can reach out through the Helping Women Period Facebook page.
