Several thousand people in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, have fled their homes as floodwaters spill out of the rising Cedar River, and officials say it could be days before they can return.
The river crested Saturday night in Waterloo and Cedar Falls, about 55 miles upstream from Cedar Rapids.
The National Weather Service predicts that the river will crest at 23 feet in Cedar Rapids Tuesday morning.
