Banquet Hall Shutdown Hits Michigan Weddings

GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- The shutdown of a banquet hall after code violations were found has led to wedding planning troubles in Livingston County.
WHMI-FM, and the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell report that the banquet hall at Barnstormer Banquet Center in Green Oak Township was recently ordered shut. The business' indoor capacity is limited until renovations are made.
Owner Rob Cortis attributes the violations to a different person interpreting ordinances, and says they'll work to reopen the building. He says couples with indoor weddings will be able to move events outdoors or Barnstormer will help them relocate wedding vents.
One bride-to-be, Annette Calhoun, learned of the closure when she met last week with wedding coordinators to finalize details of her June 18 ceremony and reception.
