Mayor Issues "Lansing First" Order

By  |

Whenever the City of Lansing buys something or hires companies to provide service, it will first look to companies who hire, buy their raw materials and contract other services within the city limits. Also, developers who receive economic incentives from the city must make a "reasonable" effort to hire Lansing resident and use Lansing-based suppliers.

Those guidelines are the result of two Executive Orders issued by Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero on Wednesday.

Mayor Bernero refers to it as his "Lansing First" initiative. "At a time when families and businesses across the city are facing serious financial challeges, we need to put Lansing residents and businesses first" said Bernero.
