Vikings turn it on in second half, take down Big Reds

HASLETT, MI. (WILX) -- It wasn't a pretty win, but it was fitting. The Haslett Vikings won their first game on their new field, taking down sexton 20-6.

"I think the definition of an ugly win applies to that, so we'll take it, but I’m proud of our defense coming out, we took it big on the chin in Coldwater last week, emotionally and physically it was a great job," said Vikings Head Coach Charlie Otlewski.

After just two field goals in the first half, the Vikings turned it around in the third quarter.

"The things we did well offensively, we regressed and did poorly this week, and it starts at quarterback, so he's got to prove he's better," said Otlewski.

Haslett, though, was happy to grab a win on their new turf.

"It’s great being down here, great atmosphere, I think we have the best looking stadium in this part of the state, now we've got to play like it," siad Otlewski.

The Vikings hop into CAAC-Red play next week when they take on the Mason Bulldogs.
