EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- It's another stop completed for the East Lansing Trojans, who captured their eleventh district title.
"The girls are such a joy to coach," said Trojans Head Coach Rob Smith. "I'm so proud of their commitment and work ethic this year. I enjoy every day going to practice and being around them every day. It's so special."
Smith said that the playoffs were a chance for his team to reset and get ready for a long road ahead to Calvin College.
And whether they needed it or not, a reset proved to be a major key for Friday’s win.
"At practice we just rested and bonded a little, we were ready to play this game, and came out with the first punch," said Junior Aaliyah Nye.
All they need to do now is keep things simple, and live up to their motto.
"We have to keep rebounding, boxing out, pushing the ball up the floor, and play our game," said Nye.
"They’re dreaming crazy, working crazy, and playing crazy," said Smith. "They're ready to go, we're ready to go to Caledonia, off to regionals, and it's going to be a great competition."
The Trojans will play Coldwater on Monday to get one step closer to another state final.
