The Detroit Tigers announced Tuesday that Lou Whitaker's number one will be retired sometime in the 2020 season. Whitaker, now 62, missed out on a Hall of Fame not two weeks ago. He played second base for the Tigers for 17 seasons from 1978 through 1995 and hit .276 with 244 home runs in his career. His will be the ninth number the Tigers have retired.
