Spartans take over the field; final score 51-17

East Lansing, MI (WILX) -- The Michigan State University Spartans went helmet-to-helmet with Western Michigan University Broncos on the field Saturday night at Spartan Stadium.

The Spartans debuted their alternate uniforms.

The neon uniforms are striking in action on the field and make a bold bright statement.

Kick off was a 7:30.

The final score of the game: 51-17

Some high lights from the first quarter:

-Brian Lewerke threw the touch down pass to Matt Doston

-A missed field goal for Western

-2-yard touch down run by La'Darius Jefferson

-Brian Lewerke threw a 42-yard pass to Darrel Stewart

Second quarter:

-Western touch down by Giovanni Ricci

-Brian Lewreke touch down pass to Cody White

-Matt Coghlin 38-yard field goal

Fourth quarter:

-Two field goals for MSU

-A field goal by Western

-Touch down by La'Darius Jefferson

-Alante Thomas 1-yard touch down
