Quakers momentum struck by lightning

LANSING, MI. (WILX) -- A new beginning lied ahead of the Lansing Eastern Quakers Thursday as they hosted the Owosso Trojans in their first game at their new stadium.

The Quakers looked to snap a 38-game losing streak.

Owosso's recent history isn’t much better as they have just one win since the start of the 2015 season.

Lansing eastern is well on their way to breaking a 38-game losing streak; the Quakers lead 35-0 as play was suspended in the 2nd half.

Lightning hit in the second half, causing the delay.

That storm put a bit of a damper on an otherwise perfect opening night for the Quakers.

"We’re happy with the kids' performance so far, some mistakes for sure, and stuff to build on, but they're playing fast and strong,” said head coach Jordan Morgan. “The field is great, kids are loving it, I wish we could be out there right now but the field is fantastic."

They decided to postpone the game until noon tomorrow.
