DETROIT, Mi The Portland Red Raiders came into Saturday night with the hopes of becoming the first undefeated state championship team in school history. That hope was dashed quickly, however, as the Crusaders from Hudsonville Unity Christian jumped on top quick and did not let up.

The Crusaders scored the first 35 points of the game before a kickoff return for a TD by Portland's Jacob Veale late in the third quarter.

Head Coach John Novara was proud of his team's season and said that the Crusaders were the toughest team they have played this season. He credited their athleticism and said it reminded them of the team Portland had in 2012 that won the state title.
