Police prepared for MSU-UM rivalry game

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- The Michigan State Spartans will take on the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday.

It's the moment that Spartan and Wolverine fans have been waiting for. Saturday's matchup between MSU and U-M has some major implications in the Big Ten Conference.

The winner will clinch the No. 1 seed in next week's Big Ten tournament and a share of the regular season title.

These teams met two weeks ago at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, where the Spartans took down Michigan, 77-70.

Saturday's game is the biggest of the season for the Spartans, and maybe the biggest game in Breslin Center history.

Despite the magnitude of the game, city and univeristy police don't expect things to get too out of hand, but they're prepared nonetheless.

"This is a very exciting time. It's a very family friendly event, and it's very exciting. With that being said, we always encourage Spartan and Wolverine fans to celebrate responsibly. We'll have the appropriate resources to make sure that it goes well," said MSU Police Capt. Doug Monette.

News 10 will have coverage of the big game including highlights, postgame thoughts from both teams and a full recap.

Be sure to tune in for coverage of the game, as well as our preview for the Big Ten tournament.
