OKEMOS, MI. (WILX) -- After a disappointing loss in Portland last week, the Dewitt Panthers went into Okemos and took it to the Chiefs.

After a disappointing loss in Portland last week, the Dewitt Panthers went into Okemos and took it to the Chiefs

Coach Rob Zimmerman says last week's game was a lesson for the Panthers.

"We had about two and a half times the yards that they did and we just made so many mistakes, he said. “It was great motivation for us to get better this week and we couldn't have responded any better than how we did tonight."

With a clean sheet for Dewitt, Zimmerman was able to go to his players that hadn't seen much action until Friday.

"They work extremely hard and it was a team win...to get everyone in was a big thing from a program standpoint,” he said.

But despite the score, Zimmerman is never satisfied.

"We have to get a lot better, the next two weeks are tough but tonight was a step in the right direction."

Next week, they take on the Holt Rams, who are off to one of their best starts (2-0) in years.

After that, the East Lansing Trojans wait for revenge against the Panthers.
