LANSING, Mich (WILX) -- Because of the Coronavirus, the Lansing United's women's soccer team will not play in 2020. Team owner Jeremy Sampson issued a news release to that effect Wednesday. He said the timing is just not right for the safety of all involved. Sampson said the team plans to play in 2021 again in the Midwest Conference of the women's United Soccer League.

"Disappointing for sure and we're no different than any of the high school or collegiate teams that couldn't compete in the spring. I know our athletes wanted to play, we certainly wanted to do that too," Sampson said in an interview with News Ten's Seth Wells.
