Michigan Wins Second Consecutive Big Ten Women’s Tennis Tournament Championship

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Michigan women’s tennis team won its second consecutive Big Ten Tournament Championship on Sunday with a 4-1 victory over Illinois at the Dillon Tennis Center. The Wolverines captured their third conference tournament title overall (2015, 2018, 2019).

After dropping the doubles point, Michigan captured four singles matches to claim the title. Kate Fahey (No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2), Giulia Pairone (No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0), Brienne Minor (No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4) and Alyvia Jones (No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-4) won their matches to give the Wolverines the championship.

With the win, Michigan earns the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championships, which will take place May 16-25 at the USTA National Campus Collegiate Center in Orlando, Fla.
