Foster Loyer came off the bench to score a career high 14 points and Michigan State won its Big Ten basketball tournament quarter-final game in Chicago Friday, 77-70. Loyer got extended playing time because Cassius Winston was nursing an injured toe. Loyer hit four three pointers. The Spartans led 36-30 at halftime, then trailed 42-40. They then took a 20-point lead at 73-53 before the Buckeyes closed a bit late. Michigan State has a 26-6 season record and faces the Wisconsin/Nebraska winner at 12:30pm in Saturday's semi-final.
