Kent State holds an eight shot lead after one round of the NCAA women's regional golf championship which began Monday at Michigan State's Forest Akers West course. Kent State is at six under par as a team. Arizona is second, Illinois third and Michigan State is tied for fourth at five over par, 11 shots back. The top six teams in the 18 team field advance to the NCAA finals with teams from three other Regionals in Fayetteville, Arkansas. That tournament will be held from May 22-27. MSU freshman Haylin Harris, from Carmel, Indiana, is tied for second place after a career low three under par 69. Michigan State's next best score was a one over par 73 from Allison Geer Park. Rounds two and three will begin at 8am Tuesday and Wednesday.
