Lions place RB Johnson on IR

DETROIT, Mich. (WILX) -- The Detroit Lions placed rooking running back kerryon Johnson on injured reserve Wednesday morning, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The move will effectively end Johnson's season.

The rookie rushed for 641 yards and three touchdowns before leaving the game in the Lions' Week 11 win over Carolina with a sprained knee.

Since Week 11, Detroit has split snaps in the backfield between LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick and Zach Zenner.

The roster move adds to the list of stars on Detroit's roster; the Lions placed WR Marvin Jones, Jr. on IR in November, and did the same with DE Ezekiel Ansah last week.

The Lions also removed Punt Returner Jamal Agnew from IR for the last two weeks of the season.
