LCC baseball and softball wrap up another season

LANSING, MI. (WILX) -- Lansing Community College’s baseball and softball teams ended this year’s season on a high note. Both teams are conference champions and both are nationally ranked in the top 10.

The Lady Stars are heading into the summer with an overall record of 39-17; and conference record of 29-3; the best is school history. They have amassed a number of Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) awards including, 2019 MCCAA Western Conference Softball Player of the Year AND Freshman of the Year honors going to LCC’s Kimberlee Maddox. LCC’s softball coach, Marc Kibby is the 2019 MCCAA Western Conference Softball Coach of the Year.

The accolades don’t stop there; All-Region, All—MCCAA Team honors go to Kimberlee Maddox; Mercedes Cole; Rebecca Curtis; Hannah Hull, and Taylor Hulett. First Team All-Conference honors go to Mercedes Cole; Rebecca Curtis; Hannah Hull, and Taylor Hulett. Second Team All-Conference honors goes to Kennedy Steele. Honorable All-Conference honors go to Sara Reinhardt; Mattie Leece, and Kylee Taylor. All-Freshman Team honors go to Kimberlee Maddox; Mercedes Cole; Hannah Hull, and Kennedy Steele.

The baseball team leaves the diamond this season with a stellar showing under the leadership of new head coach, Jordan Keur. The team completed the regular season with a 35-6 record; best percentage in school history. Their conference record was 27-1, also best in school history. The awards just keep coming as the 2019 Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) hands out its 2019 MCCAA Eastern Conference Baseball Awards to Player of the Year AND Freshman of the Year, LCC’s Cameron Hart. The 2019 Coach of the Year is LCC’s Jordan Keur. All-MCCAA, First Team All-Conference honors go to Cameron Hart and Christian Petre. Second Team All-Conference honors goes to Seth Marano. Third Team All-Conference honors go to Michael Stygles and Tyler David. Honorable Mention All-Conference honors go to Manny Garza; Alex Strickland; Ethan Collick; Grant Jebbia; Michael Barno; Brady Keur, and Craig Palidar. All-Freshman Team honors go to Cameron Hart and Seth Marino.
