Izzo talks what's ahead for Spartans

EAST LANSING (WILX) -- Michigan State got the monkey off its back by advancing past the first weekend of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015.

Now things get tougher.

Michigan State is a six and a half point favorite to down LSU in a sweet 16 matchup when the teams meet in Washington, D. C. Friday night, tip time is 7:09.

LSU is the southeastern conference champion but the Spartans' goal of course is to win four more games and the national championship and coach tom Izzo said today it's pressure inherent to his team's NCAA tournament run each year.

"If that's pressure then so be it because that's the culture we have here and if you can't handle it I'd ask the question why did you come here? I mean it's how we play every season and it's no different this year but I don't know maybe it's a good question to ask our guys."

News 10 will have live coverage from Washington starting on Wednesday.

Winner of this game will play either Duke or Virginia Tech for a spot in the Final Four.
