Former MSU Alumni Director Kinney Dies

Former Michigan State baseball star and Alumni Association Director Jack Kinney has died at 92. Kinney passed away at his Arizona home last Tuesday, July 2nd. Kinney won 13 letters at Morris High School and was a star Michigan State baseball player in the 1940s. He signed with the Boston Red Sox and played five seasons in its minor league organization. Kinney worked 27 years at Michigan State, the last 20 as Executive Director of the Alumni Association. He later spent ten years as athletic director at Cal Santa Barbara. Kinney was considered a standout amateur golfer in the area and was a past President of the now defunct Walnut Hills Country Club in East Lansing in the 1980s.
