Charlotte native and Lansing Catholic alum Cooper Rush has had a productive career at Central Michigan and he's being recognized in the preseason.

Rush is on the Maxwell Award's watch list, an award given to "college football's most valuable player", and is one of 90 players named to the watch list joining Western Michigan's Corey Davis and Michigan's Jehu Chesson.

The Charlotte native was a 2nd Team All-Mac selection in 2015 and will be in his 4th season as starting quarterback for the Chippewas. Last season he passed for a CMU record 3,848 yards guiding Central Michigan to a berth in the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit.
