BATTLE BY THE BAY: The wait is over for Spartans fans

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (WILX) -- It's the day Spartan fans have been waiting for: The red box bowl, where the Spartans and the Oregon Ducks battle it out.

News 1's Seth Wells has been hanging out in San Francisco since last week for this game.

Seth Wells spoke to Spartans fans who made the trip out to Santa Clara.

They were all really excited for Monday's game against the Ducks. There was lots of grilling and tailgating. Some fans were checking out Levi's Stadium for the first time.

"I thought it was a really cool stadium walking around, just checking out how they set up, putting everything together. It's really open, which is kind of surprising. You go to Ford Field where we're at and everything is enclosed and you're kind of trapped in there. It's like open, sunshine. We're going to get nice 55-degree sun and really enjoy that weather," said Spartans fan John Jess.

"I've gone to six bowl games with (John) and MSU's won all of them, so we're not going to break the streak today," said Richard Jess.

Right now, the second half has just gotten underway. They went into the locker rooms with no score, looking like a defensive battle.
