OKEMOS, Mich. (WILX) - March is nationally known as "women's history month."

An annual reception to mark this month is being held by the Michigan Women's Historical Center and Hall of Fame in the Meridian Mall on Thursday night.

The reception starts at 5:30 p.m. and will honor recent Hall of Fame inductees with unveiling of the 2017 Hall of Fame Inductee banners.

Also, author Norma Lewis will present a brief program about her new book, "Wild Women of Michigan." She will also have a book signing following the reception.

"March is coming in like a lioness! We are so excited to celebrate another wonderful month of Michigan women. Through the music of Ladies First, Norma Lewis' "Wild Women of Michigan", and unveiling the new inductee banners, we are bringing in March with a bang," said Executive Director Caitlyn Perry Dial.

This event is free to the public.

Refreshments will be available for attendees, and entertainment will be provided by "Ladies First", Michigan State University's all-female a Capella group.

In addition to the reception, the Michigan Women's Historical Center will host events throughout the month of March to celebrate Women's History Month. These events include Family Saturdays on March 3 and 17th at the museum and a book discussion on the 29th with Marjorie Spruill, author of "Divided We Stand."
