LANSING, Mich (WILX) - Governor Gretchen Whitmer will end what was a very busy Wednesday by remembering and honoring sexual assault survivors.
A reception and vigil is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
It will be held in the Michigan State Capitol Rotunda.
The Governor's schedule on Wednesday included: discussing her budget and speaking at the Capitol.
Whitmer's morning started at a meeting with the Michigan College Access Network.
There she discussed her 2020 budget.
The event was part of the Michigan College Access Network's College Access Advocacy Day.
She then joined Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist for Muslim Day on the State Capitol steps.
The Governor was the event's keynote speaker.
By 12:15 p.m., the Governor was at the Michigan Hall of Justice.
She was joined by the Michigan Sheriffs Association, the Michigan Association of Counties, as well as the Michigan Speaker of the House, the state's Chief Justice, and Michigan's Attorney General.
It was there that Governor Whitmer signed an executive order to start a bipartisan effort to examine jail and pretrial incarceration.
Whitmer will conclude her busy schedule this evening at the Sexual Assault Survivor’s Reception and Vigil.
There she will meet with survivors and speak during the vigil.
The vigil is scheduled to start at 5:30 PM.
