Walgreens raises minimum age to buy tobacco products to 21
Walgreens’ new age-restricted tobacco policy is now in effect.
Starting Sunday, Sept. 1, only customers 21 and up can buy tobacco products.
The company announced the new Tobacco 21 policy back in April.
The change comes as several major chains are trying to reduce tobacco use among teens.
Places like Rite Aid and Walmart have already raised their age requirements to 21 while others like CVS have banned tobacco sales as a whole.
