Volunteers build beds for local kids

It's all thanks to the non-profit sleep in heavenly peace.

On Saturday, fifty volunteers built beds that would be delivered to kids in the community that are sleeping on the floor.

The Lansing chapter joined 150 national chapters on Saturday for what is being are called "Bunks across America"!

The goal was to build 5,000 beds in one day and so far the projection is over 6,000.

"It feels great for me to give back to the community," said Steve Burger of Lowes. "The community has supported our store and all of our employees. I was one of those kids that didn't have a bed for awhile. It so near and dear to my heart. I just think it's a great cause and i'm excited about doing it."

The Lansing chapter was started about a year ago and have delivered about 40 beds in the area already.
