LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- The U.S. Navy is naming one of its ships after a Michigan man.
The guided-missile destroyer will be named after Hospital Corpsman Master Chief William Charette.
The Ludington native joined the navy in 1951 and served in The Korean War.
He received The Medal of Honor in 1953 for shielding a marine from a grenade.
Charette died in 2012.
