JACKSON, MI (WILX) -- The Jackson Major Crimes Task Force is continuing with their investigation of a shooting that happened on April 17 in Summit Township.
An update was released on Tuesday in the deputy-involved shooting case that took place in the 1300 block of Westlane Drive.
They are reporting that a deputy went to the scene to follow up on a domestic violence call.
That's when the shooting occurred.
The suspect, 34-year-old Akeen Brown, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Autopsy results showed that Brown died of a single gunshot wound to the head which was determined to be self-inflicted.
There were no other gunshot wounds on his body.
Jackson police had reported that he was listed as an absconder from parole through the Michigan Department of Corrections.
The Jackson County sheriff's deputy who was shot at the scene is in reportedly serious condition.
