U of M introduces Juwan Howard as new men's basketball coach

The University of Michigan has made it official by introducing Juwan Howard as the newest men's basketball coach.

Howard approached the podium in tears.

His emotions got the best of him as he showed his feelings for the University and the new job.

"My heart is with Michigan, and it will always be that way."

He said that the day that Beilein announced he was leaving for the Cleveland Cavaliers job, that he received over 25 texts about it.

He was preparing for an interview for the head coaching job for the Minnesota Timberwolves, but his mind was on Michigan.

He said that over the years he's been asked about coaching at the college level and he had one answer...

"There's only one job, one school that I would coach collegiate, and that's Michigan."

Howard talked about his love for the school and the team and how he is looking forward to coaching the young men.

He ended his time at the podium by telling a story about how his family preps for the Ohio State - Michigan football game.

He said he puts on his Michigan football jersey, his wife puts on her Michigan sweatshirt, and his kids put on Michigan football jerseys. He added that the family bulldog, now passed, was named Blue and would also wear a Michigan football jersey.

The introduction took place at the Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, in front of media and current U of M Coaches, including Jim Harbaugh.
