Two Younkers stores in Lansing area will shut down

Younkers stores at malls in Okemos and Lansing are closing.

Bon Ton, the company that owns the retail chain, is liquidating and shutting down 200 stores across the nation. It was forced to file bankruptcy earlier this year.

The company says it struggled to compete with online retailers Amazon and Walmart.

The Younkers at Meridian Mall and the Lansing Mall are expected to close in the next few months.
