TripAdvisor predicts travel for Labor Day

LANSING, MI (WILX) -- Labor Day is around the corner and that means people are going to be traveling.

In fact, TripAdvisor announced Tuesday that 35% of people will be traveling on Labor Day weekend this year.

Based on results from a survey of more than 3,000 respondents, TripAdvisor says 61% will be driving and 27% will be flying to their destinations.

Traveling for the unofficial end of summer, the top trips this year include:
1. Beach/ocean getaway
2. City trip
3. Lake escape
4. Mountain getaway
5. National park visit

TripAdvisor says that Friday, Aug. 30 will be one of the busiest travel days for the holiday weekend with 30% of people leaving that day. Airports will be even busier on Monday, Sept. 2 with 38% returning home from their trip.
