NBC, (WILX) - Americans will spend more than ever on dad this year.
According to the national retail federation, shoppers will spend nearly $140 compared to $91 a decade ago.
That's about $16 billion in total spending for father's day gifts.
Consumers aged 35 to 44 are mostly responsible for the growth in Father's Day spending.
The most popular gifts this year include special outings, clothing, gift cards, electronics and sporting goods.
To find the perfect gift, 39% of consumers will head to department stores, while 34% plan to shop online.
