Michigan's new minimum wage set to take effect

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- Employees making minimum wage in Michigan will receive a pay raise next week.

Michigan's minimum wage is increasing from $9.25 per hour to $9.45 per hour on March 29.

Minimum wage for employees age 16 to 19 will also get a raise from $7.86 per hour to $8.03 per hour.

However, the training minimum wage remains at $4.25 per hour for the first 90 days of employment.

Employees who collect tips will receive a raise from $3.52 per hour to $3.59 per hour.

The next minimum wage increases in Michigan take effect on Jan.1 of 2020 and 2021.

In 2020, the minimum wage will be set to $9.65, and $9.87 in 2021.
