The Beer Grotto in downtown Lansing shuts its doors for good. Less than two years after its grand opening, the bar announced on its Facebook page that Monday was its last day.

The Beer Grotto is located on East Michigan Avenue across from the Lugnuts Stadium and is known for its craft beer. It had 48 beers on tap, most were from Michigan breweries along with a vast selection of wines. The bar allowed people to sample selections before purchasing. It opened in April of 2015 in the Stadium District.

A posting on its Facebook page reads,

"Dear Beer Friends, with deep sadness, we regret to inform you all that The Beer Grotto- Lansing will be permanently closed for business effective today. We thank you all for your friendships, support, and sharing your passion and love of all things beer with us. Always remember: it's not about the glass being half-full or half-empty, the point is the glass is refillable. Cheers to you all and we wish you the happiest of holidays."

A reason for the closing of the Lansing location was not given.

The Beer Grotto still has locations in Michigan in Ann Arbor and Dexter.
