UPDATE: Teen dies after gunshot wound to the head

JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) Police are reporting that the teen shot in an early morning shooting in Jackson has died.

The 18-year-old victim, Zachary Frey, died from a gunshot wound to his head.

The incident occurred at about 7:16 a.m. in the 300 block of Union Street.

Police got a 911 call about a shooting victim inside a vehicle at the Buddy's Mini-Mart on W. Morrell Street.

Officers found an 18-year-old in the back seat of a car with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in critical condition but has since passed away.

Authorities believe the shooting happened inside the vehicle and the victim was driven to Buddy's Mini-Mart by an acquaintance.

Police say no suspects have been identified.
