Study: Couples bicker less over time

BERKELEY, Calif. (WILX) -- Here's some promising news: Even married couples who bicker tend to lighten up the longer they stay together.

Researchers at the University of California-Berkeley analyzed videotaped interactions between husbands and wives.

The 87 couples were tracked every few years for more than a decade.

Over time, the couples showed less negativity and were less likely to criticize or become defensive. In fact, as they aged, husbands and wives showed more humor and tenderness.

The studied couples had been married for 15 to 35 years.
