JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) -- Some of you could see a slight hike when you get your next electric bill.

The Michigan Public Service Commission approved a rate increase for Consumers Energy on Wednesday.

Under the new rate, a residential customer who uses 500-kilowatt hours of electricity a month will see their monthly bill increase by $1.62. The rates go into effect Thursday.

As part of the agreement reached, Consumers Energy will not file for another rate increase before Jan. 1, 2020.
