State Trooper dies from injuries he got in a motorcycle accident

PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) A State Police Trooper has died from injuries he got when he crashed his motorcycle Wednesday morning. Trooper Timothy O'Neill had been with the department since 2014. The 28-year-old spent that time working out of the Rockford post.

O'Neill was on duty in Plainfield Township in Kent County when he crashed around 7:45am. State Police say the accident is still under investigation. Witnesses tell our NBC affiliate in Grand Rapids he hit a stopped truck. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.

Trooper O'Neill is survived by his mother, father, brother, sister and fiancé. He was going to get married on October 7.
