Southfield doctor pleads guilty to healthcare fraud

SOUTHFIELD, MI (WILX) - A doctor in Southfield pleaded guilty on Monday for his role in a $2.5 million scheme of fraudulent medicare claims.

Thomas Mays pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud.

He admitted to prescribing controlled substances to medicare beneficiaries, as well as prescribing unnecessary home health care services and billing medicare for them.

Mays will be sentenced in September.
