LANSING, MI. (WILX) -- Every year there is a parade, an 80's rock band, and a meet and greet with Santa.
Silver Bells in the City is turning back time to 1984 this year as it celebrates 35 years in Lansing. (WILX)
But the highlight of the night is lighting of the state capitol's tree.
All of this excitement had downtown Lansing packed.
Parking was tough because the city closed roughly five streets between Ottowa and Hillsdale.
Most streets closed around 4:30 Friday afternoon with some exceptions closing earlier in order for the city to set up the stage.
However, parking was free including parking meters and parking garages.
Silver Bells began Friday at 6 p.m.
