UPDATE: Arrest warrant out for man involved in murder of MSU student

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- On Wednesday, October 17, East Lansing Police announced that they had obtained an arrest warrant for a man in connection to the death of a MSU student last week.

The suspect is a 30-year-old from Mississippi. They are not releasing his name at this time.

ELPD is working with state and federal officials to take him into custody.

Earlier this week, police released the name of the Texas student who was fatally shot at an off-campus apartment building near Michigan State University.

East Lansing police say he’s 22-year-old Isai Berrones of Alamo, Texas.

Berrones was killed early Friday at the 25 East Apartments, 2 miles north of the MSU campus.

Police say they got a report at 2:44 a.m. of fighting and shots fired at the apartment.

Berrones was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
